Andreas Sohmen-Pao is Chairman of BW Group, BW Offshore, BW LPG, Hafnia, Epic Gas, BW Energy and Singapore Maritime Foundation. He is also a non-executive director of Singapore National Parks Board, and a trustee of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation.
Mr Sohmen-Pao was previously Chief Executive Officer of BW Group. He has also served as a non-executive director of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd, The London P&I Club, The Esplanade Co Ltd, Sport Singapore and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore amongst others.
Mr Sohmen-Pao graduated from Oxford University in England with an honours degree in Oriental Studies. He also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Sebastien Brochet joined BW on 3 September 2013, as Vice-President for Strategy & Corporate Development. In December 2013, he also took on the responsibilities for Human Resources.
Before joining BW, he worked for Bain & Company, spending eight years in its Energy and Industrial Practice in Singapore, Dubai and Paris and leaving as a Principal. Prior to that, he held various operational responsibilities (industrial, purchasing) in the Chemical industry, at Rhodia in Asia Pacific.
He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Master degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Technology of Compiegne in France.
Yngvil Eriksson Åsheim
Managing Director, BW LNG
Yngvil Åsheim is the Managing Director of BW LNG and is responsible for BW's move into LNG infrastructure projects.
She joined BW on 1 November 2010 as Managing Director for BW Fleet Management and became Managing Director for BW Shipping in October 2013; and Managing Director for BW LNG in November 2015.
She holds a Masters in Marine Engineering from the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTNU). Åsheim started her career at DNV as a surveyor in 1993 and held various positions within the classification society.
In 2002, she joined Höegh Fleet Services, where she started as a fleet manager. After a year, she took on the role of President, responsible for all ship management activities for the Höegh Group. Subsequently, she was appointed as EVP of Höegh Autoliners responsible for global operation and ship management.
Åsheim has also held several board positions and is currently a Director of Gard P&I (Bermuda) Ltd.
Managing Director, BW Dry Cargo ApS
Christian Bonfils joined BW in 2016 as Managing Director of BW Dry Cargo. He has over 20 years of experience in chartering and dry bulk segment.
Mr Bonfils was Chief Executive Officer of First Arctic AS, a company he formed in 2015 focusing on Arctic activities. Prior to First Arctic, he was a Director/ Partner at Nordic Bulk Carrier for six years, a company he formed in 2009 which pioneered sailing on the Northern Sea route.
Mr Bonfils received executive qualifications from INSEAD.
Executive Vice President, Corporate Services and General Counsel
Nick Fell joined BW on 9 January 2012 as head of Corporate Services and General Counsel, and holds responsibilities for the Legal, Insurance, Corporate Secretarial and Communications departments. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago, a Master of Laws from the University of Leicester and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Liverpool. He is admitted to practice law in England, New York, California and Hong Kong.
Prior to joining BW, Fell was Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel for AET Group (formerly known as American Eagle Tankers) based in London, where he led the Group’s Legal, Risk Management and Compliance, HR and IT functions.
From 1999 to 2005, Fell worked in San Francisco as In House Counsel at GATX Financial Corporation, where he was responsible for the shipping, aviation and technology businesses worldwide.
Fell is currently a Director of North of England P&I Association Limited.
Executive Vice President
Billy Chiu has been with BW since 1985 and has more than 30 years of experience in the shipping industry. Chiu's current role as EVP oversees the Dry Cargo Affiliate; as well as Quality, Regulations and Compliance department, Internal Audit, and Asset Management teams.
Chiu was appointed as Director of Commercial and Operations in 2003 and later as SVP of Commercial (Tankers). From 2002 to 2003, Chiu was Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for operations, manning, fleet systems and purchasing. Chiu also oversaw the Corporate Affairs and Compliance division of the company from 2011 to 2016.
From 1995 to 2002, Chiu held senior management positions within World-Wide Shipping Agency (Singapore) Pte Ltd in the Commercial department, including as Vice President, Commercial, from 2000 to 2002. From 1990 to 1995, Chiu was Commercial Manager in World-Wide Shipping’s Japan office.
Chiu graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Social Science degree, majoring in management studies and economics. Currently, he holds a director position at the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation (ITOPF).
