BW Maritime

Record fast-track FSRU project implementation in the Port of Ain Sokhna, Egypt

BW was awarded a 5-year contract to provide LNG regasification and storage services to the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (“EGAS”) in 2015. BW’s state-of-the-art newbuild 170,212 m3 LNG FSRU, BW Singapore, is presently permanently moored alongside a jetty in the Port of Ain Sokhna, Egypt. This project of national importance was achieved on a fast-track schedule – 5 months from project inception to first gas – which was a record short time for implementation. Strong collaboration with EGAS, technical partners and suppliers enabled BW to deliver the project on an aggressive schedule.

BW was responsible for project management, construction of jetty topside facilities and the delivery of the FSRU from the shipyard to the FSRU terminal site. BW owns, operates and maintains the FSRU including the gas send-out arrangement, as well as performs LNG STS transfer operations for the unloading of LNG cargoes.

BW Singapore will be in Egypt for 5 years, primarily to supply natural gas to the local fertiliser industry. She will be receiving an LNG cargo every 5 to 6 days.
